Interior Design Turned Fashion - Stripes Done Effortlessly

The Inspiration

The Look

You may have heard me say that I'm obsessed with stripes and while I try not to buy too much of them, every time I see them I pretty much want them.  One of the reasons I love this room is because of the stripe wall...love.  I figured the look would really need some "look at me" stripes and this dress is perfect because it catches your attention with multi-directional bold stripes. All of the other accessories should look effortlessly put together and of course you can never go wrong with red lips.

If You Want Something Do It Yourself

The other day while shopping I saw this really cute headband that I wanted but couldn't get. Once I knew I wasn't going to be able to buy it, I started thinking how I could make one myself.  This ribbon headband turned out to be the easiest thing I've ever made.  It took literally almost no time at all and I'm really happy with the way it turned out.  I sewed my ribbon but if you really wanted to be in a hurry I'm sure you could use a glue gun as well.  I only used one brooch on my headband but I think it would be fun to use a variety of different ones.

If any of you do try this...let me know.  I would love to see how it turned out :)

Unexpected Partner

Dress worn as a top: Simply Vera Wang, Skirt: Thrifted, Belt: Thrifted, Shoes Target

This weekend I went out with my family to celebrate my cousin's 30th birthday. I knew I had to wear this skirt for a night out. The last time I wore the skirt was when the boyfriend had surprised me with a romantic diner at his place.  I spent most of the night dancing with my sis and a Nicole Scherzinger look a like.  I'm used to guys being the type to want to just start touching/grinding on someone while dancing but when this girl did it to me, I was a bit surprised.  I'm not into all the dirty dancing whether it's guy on girl or girl on girl.  After I moved my body from hers, she said just wanted to dance and her boyfriend didn't like to dance. I'm all for having a good time so when I was on the dance floor we danced with each other just not on each other.

The boyfriend's not really into r&b/pop top 40's kind of music so he doesn't mind when I hit the dance floor with my sisters, the girls, or by myself...but put on some country music and you can't take him off the dance floor.

When you go out, who's your dance partner?

After all the dancing, we stopped by the pizza place next door to the lounge.  Yum, what's better than pizza at 2 in the morning?
