I hope all of you had a good week.  My lack of posting was due to midterm projects.  I think this week I got the least amount of sleep than I have in months.  I got really good feedback on my projects so hopefully it was all worth it.  This weekend I'm off to enjoy my weekend with some much needed rest.  Next week I'll be back with a full week of posts so be ready :)  Hope all of you enjoy the weekend.

Layered


Yesterday was Chris' mother's birthday and apparently I'm the official birthday cake baker.  Really I don't mind, I'm actually quite flattered that they like my baking because we all know I'm not the best at cooking.  So far this year I made 3 different cakes for the boyfriend's birthday back in March, his dad and brother's cake a month ago (they share the same birthday...kind of cool right), and now his mom's cake. Chris asked if I could be a little creative and I have always wanted to try the layered look with different flavors so I decided try this out yesterday.  He also asked for strawberries so I decided to cut them in halves and put them all over the top.  Strawberries and chocolate...best combo ever!

I was able to make it out for one night this weekend.  Me and the boyfriend went from bar to bar through out the night. We even found a wine bar that played live jazz music...it was a fun little change from what we are used to...I just can't believe it's been right around the corner and we never knew about it.  Lately we've been going out with friends in groups but it was so nice to be able to be just us two for the night.
